(MYFOX NATIONAL) – Sen. John Kerry’s daughter, Alexandra Forbes Kerry, was arrested in Los Angeles Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence, police told Fox News.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Norma Eisenman said Forbes Kerry was released on $5,000 bail but did not release any other information.

TMZ.com cited police sources as saying Forbes Kerry, a 36-year-old film producer and director, was pulled over in Hollywood at 12:40 a.m. (PST) after allegedly violating a traffic law.

A formal blood alcohol test showed a reading of .06, TMZ.com said. The legal limit is .08 in California, but drivers under the limit can still be prosecuted for dangerous driving.

While Forbes Kerry was busted by police, another woman earlier this month busted herself by calling 911 to report her own drunk driving. Mary Strey of Granton, Wis., cited and charged with drunken driving and operating with a blood-alcohol level of 0.1 percent or more.

She tells Life & Style magazine, “I thought this is fine… When the officer said he was going to take me in, I just started bawling. They handcuffed me. It was the most embarrassing, traumatic and scary experience of my life.”

But the worst was yet to come – she had to call her famous father: “He was the first person I called. I told him the story, and he told me how disappointed he was in me and that it’s disappointing for my little sister to see her big sister get in trouble like this.”

Lamas beat the media to the news of her DUI shame, by announcing the fact she had been arrested online before press organisations found out.

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) – A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to driving his motorized La-Z-Boy chair while drunk.

A criminal complaint says 62-year-old Dennis LeRoy Anderson told police he left a bar in the northern Minnesota town of Proctor on his chair after drinking eight or nine beers.

Prosecutors say Anderson’s blood alcohol content was 0.29, more than three times the legal limit, when he crashed into a parked vehicle in August 2008. He was not seriously injured.

Police said the chair was powered by a converted lawnmower and had a stereo and cup holders.

Sixth Judicial District Judge Heather Sweetland stayed 180 days of jail time Monday and ordered two years of probation for Anderson. His attorney, David Keegan, did not immediately return a call for comment.

The motorized La-Z-Boy that police confiscated from a Minnesota man who drove it drunk will be put up for auction.

Police said the motorized lounge chair will be for sale on eBay, reports CBS station WCCO-TV in Minneapolis.

The chair can go up to 20 miles per hour and comes with a sound system, headlights and a parachute.

Police aren’t sure how much they will be selling the chair for.

It will be posted on the online auction Web site this Thursday.

MADISON, Wis. —  An Illinois teen knew he was too drunk to drive home after a Dave Matthews Band concert south of Milwaukee. So he fell asleep in his car, only to be awoken by a state trooper.

Travis Peterson, 19, of Dixon, Ill., said even though he told the officer he was drunk and sleeping it off, the trooper ordered him to leave because the lot was being cleared.

Once out of the parking lot, Peterson was arrested for drunken driving. He was subsequently found guilty and ordered to spend 60 days in jail.

A Wisconsin appeals court on Wednesday commended Peterson for doing the right thing by trying to sleep it off, and said the trial court was wrong not to let him argue that police had entrapped him.

The state had argued successfully at trial that people who choose to drink too much can’t argue they’ve been entrapped when stopped for drunken driving. The 2nd District Court of Appeals disagreed.

“Drinking alcohol to excess, while inadvisable and unhealthy, is not unlawful by itself,” the appeals court said.

It did not address the fact that Peterson was underage. Peterson’s attorney, Andrew Mishlove, said that was irrelevant given the other issues at stake.

An actress who starred on the hit television series “Three’s Company” has been arrested in Southern California and cited for drunken driving.

Police say Joyce DeWitt, who played the character Janet Wood on the popular show, was pulled over Saturday afternoon after she drove past a barricade near a park in El Segundo.

Sgt. Danny Kim says an officer arrested the 60-year-old DeWitt after he observed signs she had been drinking and gave her field sobriety tests.

Kim says DeWitt was booked at the Police Department, cited and released on her own recognizance.

Ohio man arrested for drunk driving on a homemade vehicle

MARCH 31–In a law enforcement first, Ohio cops this month arrested a man for drunk driving on a motorized bar stool. That’s right, a motorized bar stool, which can be seen below in a police evidence photo. According to cops, Kile Wygle, 28, crashed his bar stool near his Newark home earlier this month and called 911 due to his injuries. When an officer arrived and asked Wygle what happened, he answered, “I wrecked my bar stool.” According to a Newark Police Division report, a copy of which you’ll find here, Wygle’s homemade ride is powered by a Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engine. Wygle noted that the bar stool could hit nearly 40 miles per hour, but that he was only going 20 when he wiped out late in the afternoon on March 4 (a witness told police that he spotted someone driving a “strange motorized machine” before the crash). A plastered Wygle, who failed a series of field sobriety tests, was charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license, both misdemeanors. His bar stool was not impounded.

MIAMI —  A Miami television station and newspaper are reporting that blood tests show that Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth was driving drunk when he fatally struck a pedestrian last weekend.

WSVN-TV reported Thursday that unnamed sources with knowledge of the investigation say that Stallworth’s blood-alcohol level was between .08 and .16. The legal limit is .08. The Miami Herald also reported Thursday that an unnamed source says Stallworth’s blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit.

The Miami Beach Police Department is refusing to confirm the reports.

No charges have been filed against the 28-year-old Stallworth. Neither his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, nor his attorney, Robert Switke, returned calls from The Associated Press seeking comment.

Victim Mario Reyes died Saturday after being struck by Stallworth’s Bentley at 7 a.m. He had just finished an overnight shift at the Port of Miami and was walking to a bus stop.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says a drunken driving suspect in Reno was gassed in more ways than one.

A 40-year-old Reno woman was arrested early Tuesday after an ambulance crew saw her driving on U.S. Highway 395 with a fuel hose and nozzle sticking out of her gas tank.

Patrol spokesman Chuck Allen says the crew tried to signal April Westfall after they spotted the unusual appendage to her green Subaru wagon about 4:30 a.m. but couldn’t get her attention.

He says the crew eventually initiated a traffic stop and radioed the state troopers. Upon their arrival, Westfall failed a sobriety test and was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Allen says they are still trying to find the service station that is missing the nozzle and about 6 feet of fuel hose.

California cops busted Heather Locklear and charged her with driving under the influence, in her second troubling encounter with law enforcement this year, officials said today.

Locklear, 47, was booked for suspicion of driving, while high on prescription drugs on Saturday before she made bail out of the Santa Barbara County Jail at about 11:30 p.m., authorities said.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff released a mug shot of the fried actress, with running mascara and dark roots showing through her bleached blonde hair.

The actress was in the filthy rich community of Montecito at about 4:30 p.m., when she caught the attention of a concerned driver, cops said.

“She [Locklear] was observed by a citizen pulling out of a parking lot and the woman [witness] thought she [Locklear] was driving really erratically,” CHP spokesman Tom Marhsall said.

“She [the witness] didn’t know who she [the driver] was.”

The witness called 911 after spotting Locklear stopping and getting out her car several times within a few minutes, according to cops.

When an officer arrived, Locklear’s car was parked, blocking a lane of Highway 192, Marshall said.

Locklear passed tests to show she wasn’t drunk, but cops figured out she was impaired on an undisclosed prescription drug, officials said.

A rep for Locklear could not be immediately reached for comment today.

Ventura County paramedics rushed to Locklear’s home in March after the shrink called cops, fearing the actress could be despondent.

She was OK that day, but in April she checked into an Arizona psychological treatment facility for depression and anxiety.

Friends have said Locklear has been down in the dumps since her 11-year marriage to rocker Richie Sambora fell apart at the end of 2005.

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — As if getting a DUI wasn’t enough, a man arrested for driving under the influence got in a lot more trouble at the police station.

Police stopped Jose Cruz on Route 60 in South Charleston Monday night for driving with his headlights off.

Then, he failed sobriety tests and was arrested.

When police were trying to get fingerprints, police say Cruz moved closer to the officer and passed gas on him. The investigating officer remarked in the criminal complaint that the odor was very strong.

Cruz is now charged with battery on a police officer, as well as DUI and obstruction.

If you are ever stopped by police officer while intoxicated, this may be a way to get out of a D.U.I.

There are no guarantees, and its pretty crazy, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Make sure that you have a unopened bottle of Liquor (or a good amount of unopened beer) in the car somewhere. When you get pulled over have you window up. Take the keys out the ignition so the police officer can see you, and set them on your lap.

Next grab the (unopened) bottle, so he can see it. Open it and begin to chug.

Then pass out.

At this time the cop has no idea if you had any drinks previously to being pulled over. You are going to blow over your BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) for sure if your had a few guzzles of the booze.

There is no way of knowing if your BAC was over the limit before being pulled over.

Some states have a Keys in the Car policy if you are over the alcohol limit. If you are in one of those states, this will never work. As long as you have your keys in your car while drunk, you are getting a D.U.I.

If you have the balls to ever try this, hope it works for you.

“Carmelo Anthony said Tuesday he was “truly sorry” for his arrest on DUI charges, and police denied giving him special treatment, even though one officer gave him a lift after his arrest and another drove his car to a city lot.

“I’m here to man up to my mistake, just to let you know that I’m truly sorry for what happened and everything that’s going on,” Anthony, 23, said in Denver with teammate Allen Iverson by his side. “What happened Monday morning was truly and totally unacceptable.”

Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said it’s “not a standard practice [for an officer to give a DUI suspect a ride], but it is done on occasion and it is not a violation of department policy.”

Det. Sharon Hahn said officers also have the discretion to have suspects’ cars towed to an impound lot, let a friend or relative move it or move it themselves.
